ELECTION OF STATE COMMITTEE
Replace
Each person present and eligible to vote at the State Convention may cast a ballot listing up to, but not more than, nine nominees.

5. Votes may also be cast for None of the Above (NOTA). However, a ballot for NOTA may only contain the vote for NOTA, and any names listed on the ballot other than NOTA shall not be counted. Votes for persons other than nominees are not valid. No nominee receiving fewer votes than NOTA shall be elected.

6. The nominees who receive the most votes, and more votes than NOTA, are elected as the new State Committee.

INSERT INSTEAD
5. Each person present and eligible to vote at the State Convention may cast a ballot for electing State Committee members. The ballot will list the names, and a vote of YES, NO, or ABSTAIN for each nominee. If a particular candidate is not listed on a particular ballot, the vote is recorded as "ABSTAIN".

6. The nominees who receive the most votes, computed as number of YES votes minus number of NO votes, are elected, up to a total of nine persons elected. If there is a tie, in such a way that not all persons in the tie can be elected without exceeding the size limit of the State Committee, a fresh vote is taken with only the persons in the tie placed on the ballot. The nominees who receive the most votes, computed as number of YES votes minus number of NO votes, are again elected, up to a total of nine persons elected in both rounds of voting. If there is a further tie, in such a way that not all persons in the tie can be elected without exceeding the size limit of the State Committee, the persons in the tie are not elected.

Article IX. Memberships and Subscriptions
Add section Affiliates. An Affiliate is a person who has provided the Association with their name and email address, and who wishes to be recorded as an affiliate. Affiliates are sent such information and publications as the State Committee may choose. Affiliates are not Members.

Nomination of Archivist
Bob Clark volunteered to be Archivist, and was nominated by the Committee without objection. The archivist is responsible for updating the Constitution and Bylaws, distributing them for review, and archiving the updated version and other electronic files.

Updating Final Renewal Letter
After a brief discussion about updating the renewal letter that says "we're sorry you're not renewing, can you tell us why?", it was decided to leave it as is for now.

Fundraisers
George proposed doing two more fundraisers this year. One appealing to supporters of marijuana legalization, and the other would be sent to national party members that are not state party members. The approximate costs would be $20 for 1000 #10 envelopes, $12 for a ream of yellow paper, and $50 for printing and postage. He made a motion to appropriate these funds and do the fundraiser, and Dick seconded. The motion passed.

Occupy Wall Street
There was a discussion about how we can appeal to the people involved in the OWS movement.

It was agreed that we should draft a handout that talks specifically about the related issues. Alwin agreed to put this together and distribute it for review. On the handout we should mention the website. Keep in mind that small messages are more easily digested.

Alwin also passed out a flyer that looks like a million dollar bill on one side. He had gotten these at an event and thought they were good at getting people's attention. Perhaps we can do something like this in the future.

Email List for Volunteers
David requested that we have an email list of people that have offered to volunteer for LAMA. Using a mass emailer it would be easier to send a message to everyone on the list. This list could be used for many things, like announcing outreach events, requesting help for getting work done, etc.  Bob said he would begin organizing the lists that we have. These include people who have contacted us through our web site and the national web site, yahoo groups, GoldMassGroup members, and others. The list needs to be easy to maintain and use. Bob will research mass emailers.

Facebook Ads
George made a motion to appropriate $120 for Facebook ads, $72 from the federal account for Meetup renewals, and $493.75 from the federal account for the convention costs. Dick seconded, and the motion passed.

New Committee Member - Chris Maden
Chris was asked if he would like to be a member of the LAMA state committee. He responded that he is currently a member of the New Hampshire LP committee, but if that wasn't a problem, he would be happy to. There are no restrictions about multiple memberships, and this committee doesn't see that it would be a conflict. With a unanimous vote, Chris was accepted as a member of the committee. Bob agreed to add Chris to the email distribution list, and make other changes as needed.

Next Meeting
Sunday, November 20th will be our next monthly meeting.
