Carla Howell of Wayland has been appointed new National Director of the Libertarian National Committee. She reports to the party's Chair and CEO, Mark Hinkle.
Until recently, Howell had run the Massachusetts Committee for Small Government, which had floated several tax cut referenda. Prior to that, she had been a Libertarian Party candidate for U.S. Senate and Massachusetts Governor, and had served as state chair of the Libertarian Party. Your editor particularly remembers her rousing speech some years ago to a Massachusetts State Convention, championing in your face radical libertarianism, because a candidate will never be more radical than he is before he takes office.

More than 500 delegates, a recent record for a non-Presidential National Convention, assembled in St Louis for the Libertarian Party National Convention. The radical changes in the Bylaws and Platform, such as eliminating non-Presidential conventions, were not passed.
