Texas Libertarian Roger Gary
Announces Presidential Campaign
Promises Restoration of Civil Liberties, Free Markets, and a Non-Interventionist Foreign Policy
(SAN ANTONIO) Roger V. Gary, of San Antonio, Texas, has filed a declaration of candidacy with the Federal Election Commission pursuant to a campaign for the 2012 Libertarian nomination for president.
Gary, 64, said he would campaign on the "complete Libertarian message" of restoring civil liberties, the free market, and a non-interventionist foreign policy.
Gary filed the paperwork after visits to Florida, Tennessee, and Iowa. "Previous visits across the country convinced me enough Libertarians were eager for a candidate who will bring our full message to the American voter. Americans have been battered by the failed policies of the Democrats and Republicans long enough, and Libertarians across America believe that we can reach out to them successfully if we stand by all of our principles."

Libertarian Presidential Candidates
Independent Political Report lists people who have said they are running for the Libertarian Party's Presidential nomination. Their web sites follow. Roger Gary and Lee Wrights have substantial campaign teams and have said they are filing with the FEC. Jim Burns and Jim Duensing are running campaigns based more heavily on personal effort. Rumors of campaigns also exist for Joy Waymire, Michelle Shinghal, and Wayne Root.

From the LAMA August Newsletter:
State Committee Funds 2012 Presidential Ballot Access
The State Committee has set aside $1000 from our Federal account as a Presidential ballot access fund. Any donations specified as being for Presidential Ballot access will be added to the fund. The money may be spent on fundraising, petitioning, petition redistribution or other costs for getting our 2012 Presidential candidate on the ballot.
We improve our credibility as a third party if we run someone for President. (Yes, we would have been interested in running someone for statewide office this year on some ballot line, but we didn't find anyone willing to spend 15 or 20 thousand dollars out of their own pocket just to get on the ballot.)
The money will not be spent, except for raising more money, until we find someone who is willing to take full responsibility for executing the petitioning process.
